A short interview with business owner Marco Candoni

What is the story behind the name Moccaraba?

The coffee roasting company MOCCARABA AG in Kleinbasel has been around for over 70 years. René Candoni took over the roast house in 1962, thereby paving the way for a unique family business. We roast fresh coffee blends and pure varieties almost daily with the help of Marie, the almost century-old roasting machine and thus our longest serving member of staff.

You can buy various coffee blends and different types of pure coffee in our shop, create your own blend and take it with you, in any quantity you wish. Besides coffee, we also offer a small selection of coffee and tea accessories and a selection of various types of tea.

Where can I buy your products?

You can buy our coffee in our shop at Untere Rebgasse 29. We cherish direct contact with our customers and would be delighted if you would pay us a visit.

Why is regionality important to you?

I value being able to shop locally, use regional products and thus also support small shops in times when everything has to move fast and be cost-effective. at the same time.

Where is your favourite place in (Klein)Basel?

My favourite place is the Rheinbord. I like walking along the Rhine on the Kleinbasler side.
